What do I do??

Sound the alarms, kiss your loved ones good-bye, do whatever you need to do because the world is coming to an end. I have left my book at home.

You may be asking yourself, "Huh? What's the big deal?" Trust me, this is a big deal. I never - NEVER - leave home without a book. Never. I don't think you understand. I. Never. Leave. My. House. Without. A. Book.

Jason makes fun of me because we'll leave the house just to get take-out and come straight home and I make sure to grab my book du jour before we leave, just in case. It doesn't matter where I'm going or how long I'll be gone, I have to take at least one book with me (yes, I have been known to take two books when I leave the house for a short period of time just because I'm close to the end of the first book and want to be prepared).

In case you haven't figured it out yet, I am a big ol'nerd. I love, love, love to read. I actually get grumpy if I go too long without reading. Every night I stay up way too late saying " just one more chapter" over and over to myself. One level of my personal hell would be if I became blind.

At work, I usually take my lunch break with Melissa. Today she had other plans. Being left to my own devices I thought I'd get an hour of reading time in... That is until I reached into my purse and realized my book was missing.

So, now I'm sitting here at work, shaking like a druggie going through detox. Just counting down the minutes until I can get my next fix.

  1. I can definitely relate! I feel twitchy when I don't have something to read. I generally keep my ereader in my purse, and read my actual books at home. That way I never have to worry about forgetting.

    1. I'm glad I'm not alone in my nuttiness. I should try keeping my ereader in my purse and keeping actual books at home... Hmmm, thanks for the idea. Currently, I jump back and forth - read an actual book (or 2), then read a book (or 2) on my Nook.

  2. The beyond sad part to this is you are not hyping this up in any way. We were just out last night with the potential for maybe 10-15 minutes of reading time and you still have your phone to play with on facebook and what not and you had what... 50 pages or so left in the book you were reading but oh no, that is too close to call, you need a back up book with your nook. You know in case we get cut off from civilization and have to hold up for a day or so before we can cover the 10 miles back to the house. I'm sorry but if something like were to happen that kept us out long enough for you to finish off 50 pages of "fluff reading" as you called it, then I think having a back up book will more than likely be the least of our worries cause we would have had a wreck, or been held hostage and attacked by the commie's or terrorists or something like that. I mean really Missy, you need to start asking yourself, does Jason think is a little bit crazy? If I do, then you will be OK, with just having one book on hand. Trust me.

    1. It's NEVER ok to just have one book on hand. I couldn't really play with my phone because the battery was almost dead. And besides, we were sitting at Prime Care... I thought I'd have way more reading time. You know how scary Prime Care can be.

  3. Hahaha! I don't even know where to start this blog is so glorious! First, I am SO sorry, if I had known yesterday that you didn't have your book, I would've said F those plans with mom!! Haha! Second, I didn't think this was POSSIBLE! I'm actually thinking the apocalypse may happen this December now. Third, quote: "kiss your loved ones goodbye" lol! Fourth, you should totally follow Jason's advice. Haha! And I love the term "fluff reading" Fifth, you are the such an intelligent writer/vocabulariest, and I admire your reading! It's clearly just sharpening your existing skillz.

    1. Had I known that I didn't have a book before you left, I would've made you cancel on your mom. Haha! On the other hand, my pain and sorrow allowed me to write this post. So, it all washes out. Right? You are the very bestest! :)
